All the children of Lowtown know the story of The Clockwork Circus. By candlelight they whisper of great mechanical beasts, things more alive than they should be. They lock their windows at night just in case the Clockwork Ringmaster passes by looking for souls to power his creations.
Isobel doesn’t believe in children’s stories. She is nineteen, has a job, a room of her own, and secrets to keep. She dreams of escape, of airships, and what may be outside the walls of the Lowtown slums.
But then the Circus arrives, and girls start going missing …
